Martin Crandon is a designer and maker
from the Black CountryThe Black Country is an imprecisely bounded, predominantly urban area of England’s West Midlands. It extends across much of the metropolitan districts of Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton. In 1785, a contemporary description portrayed the route connecting Wolverhampton and Birmingham as an almost uninterrupted built-up stretch. The area was among the places where the Industrial Revolution began. Its name appears in records from the 1840s; proposed origins include a thick coal seam close to ground level and the soot-laden, polluted air associated with coke production and local iron, glass, brick and steel industries.
